Joaquin Sorolla Sold

Yesterday in London, Sotheby's led its sale of 19th Century European Paintings with Joaquin Sorolla's Niños en la playa (1916). A private buyer snapped it up for £2,770,500. It had remained in the artist's family until the sale, occasionally loaned to major Sorolla exhibitions and also featured on a Spanish stamp.
