Thinking Big

Charles Saatchi is holding a massive sale of rubbish by 50 "artists" whose tripe he bought for the Saatchi Gallery. And no, it has nothing to do with his break-up with Paella. He and Christie's have been planning this Thinking Big sale for about a year. The sculptures and installation thingies are so big the exhibition will take place at the Sorting Office, a huge ex-postal building in the heart of London. The aim of the sale is to continue providing free entry to the Saatchi Gallery and bamboozling school children about the wonders of modern art. Georg Herold's Untitled (2010) is an example of the tripe on offer. All the works will be offered without estimate or reserve, so as not to frighten off impoverished art galleries and museums. The exhibition will coincide with the Frieze Art Fair in October (CLICK).
