Flaming June Study

This chalk-and-pencil Head Study for Flaming June by Frederic, Lord Leighton has ben rediscovered 120 years after it was reproduced in an art magazine in 1895. It was found in West Horsley Place, which Bamber Gasgoigne inherited from his aunt, Lady Roxburghe. He found the upper part of the mansion full of dusty treasures hidden away. This Head Study comes up for grabs in Sotheby’s London sale of Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art on 15 July, estimated to £40,000 - £60,000 (CLICK).
