Stolen Art Returned

Amedeo Modigliani - Girl with Red StockingsThe Palazzo Incontro in Rome is showing a most unusual exhibition: Stolen Art: The Return until 19 December 2006. The exhibition features about 100 stolen works of art recovered by Italy's art police: the Carabinieri Cultural Heritage Protection Unit and the Finance Guard. Amedeo Modigliani's Girl with the Red Stockings was stolen from a private collection in Rome and has never been exhibited before. How about it, Met. Fuzz? You can't let those pasta-eaters grab all the street cred. How about a display of retrieved bronze statues at Tate Modern? Or were they all melted down? Any clues? Big lorry, maybe?
