New Guinea Discoveries

Ornate Fruit-Dove (2007)How's this for a pigeon painted by a lunatic? Actually it's a genuine photo of an ornate fruit-dove which lives in dense jungles in the Foja Mountains of New Guinea. An expedition to this "lost world", organised by Conservation International and led by Bruce Beehler, also found two species probably new to science: a giant rat weighing 1.4 of those foreign kilogram thingies and a pygmy possum.
