Tony Hart

Tony Hart in better daysIt's sad to learn that artist, writer and TV broadcaster Tony Hart has suffered two strokes which have left him unable to draw. He cannot even sign his name. Having appeared on art programmes for nearly 50 years, he was forced to retire in 2001 due to ill health. Now 83, he is being looked after by two live-in carers at his home. His books and TV programmes popularized art and encouraged novices in ways that the many phonies of the art world cannot begin to emulate.

My kids, both with the artistic bent of their mother, loved him and his programmes.

Hi, Weggis

Glad to hear it. We need more Tony Harts in this country and a lot less of pretentious twerps like Sir Nick and his cronies. They just give art a bad name.
