The Aurora Borealis

Here's the best joke of the week so far. Aberdeen tourist information staff are asked when the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights are "switched on"! Like Christmas decorations, the tourists suppose. Having dealt with the public for many years, I know it's headbanging stuff. Okay, tourists, here are the facts. The appearance of the Aurora Borealis is determined by the Sun's activity as it nears solar maximum. Coronal mass ejections from the Sun increase your chances of witnessing the Aurora Borealis.
