London St Photo Fest
Here's a plea from the inaugural London Street Photography Festival, based on a graphic by Allison Ball. The Festival runs throughout July in a wide variety of venues, from the National Portrait Gallery to the British Museum. To get the ball rolling the organisers invited international street photographers to submit photos for its first award. It also gives student awards. Definition: “candid, un-staged photography which captures, explores or questions contemporary society and the relationships between individuals and their surroundings.” Click the title link to find out more and to download a map of venues. CLICK for a BBC News slide show of photos in the Festival. The above photo by Polly Braden and David Campany of carefully posed street urchins in Stamford Hill shows you what a tip London has became.
