Open House London
Yesterday it was blazing hot in London. Suddenly it's August and it's cold and miserable and BBC journalists belonging to NUJ are on strike again (CLICK). Time to think about Open House London, which attracts a quarter of a million people to see the interiors of buildings normally closed to the public. The 17 and 18 September may seem a long way away, but the Guide is published in a week's time and soon after that copies will be sent to local libraries (title link). In the meantime, how about this for a novelty? Dogs for Architecture! This a 3-hour guided tour round Bloomsbury next Sunday 7 August beginning at 10am. The tour includes "hidden" green spaces: Russell Square Gardens, Bedford Square and Bloomsbury Square. The cost is £9.50. So only rich dog owners with well behaved highbrow pooches need apply (CLICK). My dogs' only interest in architecture is to see how high they can urinate up walls. £9.50 for a pissing contest? No way. Too much like human politics.

Pissing contests?...You have been following American politics?
Politics in general, but I had the US debt crisis in mind too. How do they run a country when nobody can make a decision without begging Congress to okay it? And there are so many extremists in UK politics.
