Lucian Freud Portraits

The next biggy at the National Portrait Gallery in London is Lucian Freud Portraits, which opens on 9 February and totters along until 27 May (title link). Freud was collaborating with NPG on this exhibition when he died last year. At least 130 of his portrait paintings will be on display, showing how his style went from bad to worse. Early example: Girl In A Dark Jacket (1947). The sitter was Kitty Garman, Jacob Epstein's daughter, soon to become Freud's first wife. The show would be worth a visit but for the admission price: £14 adults, £13 silver surfers. If you must go, book now.
