NPG Portrait Prize

The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2012 exhibition opens at the National Portrait Gallery in London on 8 November and runs until 17 February 2013 (CLICK). The winner of the £12,000 prize and the winner of the first John Kobal New Work Award will be announced on 5th November. I must admit I'm not impressed with this year's shortlisted entries (CLICK). Jordi Ruiz Cirera's portrait of Margarita Teichroeb is the most atmospheric. The lead photo for the show is Kate Peters' portrait of the popular Olympian Mo Farah (2012) cleverly shot against a black background to highlight his features. The gorgeous Sophie (photographer unknown) was selected for the cover of this year's Catalogue. The competition attracted 5,340 entries. The top 60 photos are in the exhibition, including Mo and Sophie. entry £2.
