Murillo at Wallace

I previewed Murillo at the Wallace Collection: Painting of the Spanish Golden Age in December (CLICK). It opens on 6 February to coincide with the Dulwich Picture Gallery's Murillo exhibition and runs until 12 May. This one is free. The Wallace Collection houses one of Britain’s most important collections of paintings by Bartolomé Estebán Murillo, with eight masterpieces and several by his workshop and associates Francisco Meneses Osorio and Juan Simón Gutiérrez, all acquired by the 4th Marquess of Hertford. These are devotional works. Shown here is Murillo's The Charity of Saint Thomas of Villanueva (ca 1670). For this exhibition Murillo's Rest on the Flight into Egypt will be on loan from Wrotham Park (CLICK).
