Waldmüller & Stuck

This magnificent oil painting A Doric temple in Sicily with Castelmola and Taormina beyond (1849) by Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller (Austrian, 1793-1865) comes up for grabs in Christie’s London auction of 19th Century European Art on 22 May, estimated value £200,000 to £300,000. (CLICK for a larger graphic.) There is also a superb bronze sculpture by Franz Von Stuck Amazon on Horseback, conceived in 1897, cast in 1906, estimated at £20,000 to £30,000 (CLICK). Stuck is well represented in the sale.
