Rossetti's Obsession
Jane Morris (née Burden) became the face of brooding beauty for the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood thanks to Dante Gabriel Rossetti's many paintings of her. She died in 1914. The William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow is marking the centenary of Jane's death with a free exhibition Rossetti's Obsession, bringing together rarely seen drawings and pastel studies of Jane by Rossetti, as well as images of Jane as herself (CLICK). Shown is Jane in Rossetti's coloured chalks drawing La Donna della Finestra (1870).
