Yesterday the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art at 39a Canonbury Square, London, opened Modigliani: A Unique Artistic Voice. The exhibition comprises early and rarely seen drawings on paper, illustrating how Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) developed his unique style. Look at the quiet elegance of this simple drawing: Standing Female Nude in Profile with Lighted Candle (c.1911).
