American ABC

Yesterday, the Portland Museum of Art, Maine, opened American ABC: Childhood in 19th-Century America, which continues until 7 January 2007. My reason for mentioning this is that the exhibition reads like a Who's Who of 19th century American art: Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, George Catlin, Eastman Johnson and Lilly Martin Spencer. More than 100 works are on show. If you're into either art or history, don't miss it.
