Tolkien's Vision in Oils

Paul Raymond Gregory - Spider from The Designs of Melkor triptych (1996-97)Thanks to an anonymous tip off, I can can tell you that Paul Raymond Gregory is exhibiting his awe-inspiring series of paintings inspired by J.R.R.Tolkien's The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings at the Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde, Sweden, until 5 August 2007. Paul, probably better known for his album cover art, has been working on this project for 25 years. The results are astounding. He has captured the grandeur of Tolkien's epic fantasy. Remember that ghastly spider? Paul's vision - part of a triptych: The Designs of Melkor - is perfect. Sweden too far to go for a gawk? Hi, John

Yes, his work is outstanding. The spider painting I posted is really creepy, perfect for J.R.R.Tolkien.
