The V&A's April Fool Gag
Part of the blurb for the new exhibition Picasso: Histoire Naturelle at the Museum of Childhood (the V&A's Bethnal Green branch) reads: "Pablo Picasso was one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century." This has got to be an April Fool's gag. Look at the illustration. Have you ever seen a more pathetic drawing of a horse? And this is one of the best I spotted (title link). It's one of 31 prints Picasso knocked up in one month in 1936 for Histoire Naturelle by the French naturalist Georges-Louis Leclerc Buffon. The show continues until 15 July 2007. Great art? Come off it, V&A. Stop brainwashing our kids with this lie.
