Goddess About!

To emphasize the point I made in yesterday's post about Stone Age figurines, here's a 20th-century fun-loving goddess about to lob a hand grenade. This brilliantly eye-catching fashion photo for Nova magazine (1971) by Helmut Newton is one of the exhibits in a retrospective of his work - Helmut Newton: Fired - which opened recently at the Museum für Fotografie in Berlin and continues until 17 May 2009 (title link). More than one of today's pop divas owes her look to Newton's images. And Stone Age Man is alive and well and living in the 21st Century.
