A Plea From Dulwich

Attributed to Annibale Carracci - Saint CeciliaThe desperate need for cataloguing the paintings in British art galleries and museums (CLICK) is proven by the disgracefully tatty condition of this picture of Saint Cecilia, possibly by Annibale Carracci, which was recently unearthed in the depths of the Dulwich Picture Gallery, together with a Venus and Adonis from Titian's studio. Both paintings vanished into storage at the time of World War II and haven't been on display since! Now the gallery has found them, it's appealing to the public to pay towards restoration. If you feel like adopting poor old Saint Cecilia, click the title link.
