Young Leonardo

Here's the newly discovered self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci I mentioned yesterday (title link) placed side-by-side with a known self-portrait by Leonardo in old age. The angle of the head is correct for a self-portrait. The younger head is held slightly more upright than the older one, which we would expect. The nose and the curvature of the mouth are very similar, the hairstyle the same and the beard less developed in the younger face. I'm convinced. Well spotted, Piero Angela.
