Comic Book Art

The Eagle - Dan DareWhile our art colleges are churning out untalented graduates who think they can sell a pile of cardboard boxes as sculpture, graphic novels and Manga comics have taken the UK by storm. Kids are demanding them from libraries, despite the fact that Manga comics are Japanese and read backwards. So I was interested to receive a promotion from The Impact University Pro Comics and Art Workshop 2009, presented by Impact Books. It's a one-day workshop for aspiring comic book artists at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, California, on 21 July, cost $199 (title link). Isn't it time UK art colleges woke up to the fact that comic book art is very popular and commercially viable? Remember Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future, from The Eagle? He's a part of British cultural heritage.
