Mary Seacole Statue
Martin Jennings has won the commission to create a memorial statue of Jamaican-born nurse Mary Seacole, who became a heroine of the Crimean War. In a poll in 2004 she was voted the greatest Black Briton of all time. The graphic shows Martin's winning model. The finished statue will stand in the grounds of St Thomas' Hospital in central London. It is hoped to complete the work by the end of 2010 or early 2011. Click the title link for more information.
