Brueghel Saved

Last September I posted news of a campaign to raise £2.7m to save Pieter Brueghel the Younger's The Procession to Calvary (CLICK). The campaign by The Art Fund and National Trust raised £1.7m. The National Heritage Memorial Fund has now added the final £1m to the pot. So the painting will remain on show in Nostell Priory, the family home of Lord St Oswald, who offered it for sale to pay for restoration of his estate. Personally I think it should go to the National Gallery in London, where more people will see it.
