Jaguar E-Type

Not to be outdone by the centenary drive of the Rolls-Royce statuette Spirit of Ecstasy last weekend (CLICK), Jaguar celebrated 50 years of its design classic the E-Type with a spin alongside the Thames for the 77 RW, one of two press cars from 1961 (title link for photos). When The Telegraph polled its readers to find "The 100 most beautiful cars of all time", the Jaguar E-type received almost four times as many votes as any other car (CLICK). At a time when British sculptors were mostly producing rubbish, it took an automotive firm to create a stunning work of art. The Design Museum in London has marked the 50th anniversary of this aerodynamic masterpiece by displaying a 1961 E-Type Jaguar in its riverfront Tank until 6 March (CLICK).
