British Landscape

In February The Sunday Telegraph launched The Great British Landscape watercolour competition for amateurs, to coincide with the Watercolour exhibition at Tate Britain. Today it posted a slide show of the finalists (title link). Above is Maurice Stevens' As the Crow Flies: farmland near Winchester in late spring. Another of my favourites is Edmund Wilson's dramatic Stormy Evening: a container ship at dusk. Both paintings look very professional, as does Oasthouses in the Weald of Kent by John Hanson, another favourite.
