Wife Visits Weiwei

Yesterday Chinese authorities allowed Ai Weiwei's wife Lu Qing a brief meeting with her husband, the first since he was arrested more than 40 days ago at Beijing's airport. She was summoned to a police station and taken to an unknown destination, where she met her husband in front of a throng of witnesses, some taking notes. Weiwei assured her that those holding him were taking good care of him, that he was healthy and that she shouldn't worry. Police warned the family not to discuss the visit with the media, but I'm sure the authorities wanted this news to leak out to silence international condemnation of Weiwei's arrest. Fat chance!
