Artist of the Year

Voting is now open for the Artists & Illustrators magazine's Artist of the Year 2011 award, now in its 4th year. You don't need to be a subscriber to the magazine in order to vote. Just click the title link. Over 5,000 entries were received this year and the quality is high, far higher than in that pathetic joke The Threadneedle Prize. And you get to choose from a longer list of shortlisted entries, 50 divided into three categories: Portrait, Landscape and Still-Life. This finely detailed painting by Ginny Page shows the highest standard of portraiture. The artist reveals her own affection for her subject. This takes rare talent. We're not short of good artists in the UK; we're short of good judges.
