Dr Cheng Yu
Back in April I featured May Fong Robinson's beautiful digital artwork of Crystal Liu playing the Chinese pipa (CLICK). Here's another pipa, Dr Cheng Yu's recreation of the 5-stringed pipa (lost since the 8th century, Tang Dynasty). She will be playing the pipa (lute) and guqin (zither) at the Horniman Museum on Wednesday 5 September from 7pm to 9pm in the Gardens Pavilion (CLICK). Tickets cost £12 in advance or £14 on the door, including a glass of wine in the interval. Not sure whether to lash out? CLICK to watch a YouTube video of Cheng Yu playing Dance of the Yao People. Breathtaking!
