The Lost Prince
Here's another exhibition for loaded tourists. The National Portrait Gallery in London is marking the 400th anniversary of the death of Henry Stuart with The Lost Prince: The Life & Death of Henry Stuart, which opens on 19 October (CLICK). Some of the most important works of art created in the Jacobean period are brought together from museums and private collections in Britain and abroad, some of which have never previously been on public display. They include portraits by Holbein, Nicholas Hilliard and Isaac Oliver as well as drawings, books, armour and other artifacts. This fine portrait of Henry, Prince of Wales (c.1610-12) is by Isaac Oliver. Admission: £13 adults, £12 silver surfers. Whether you lash out on this show or not, don't miss a free exhibition which opens in Room 16 on the same day: The Art of Drawing: Portraits from the Collection, 1670-1780 (CLICK). This must be worth a visit.
