Souzou Art

The Wellcome Collection in London has gone all arty farty for its Spring show: Souzou: Outsider Art from Japan (CLICK). Over 300 exhibits by 46 artists have been brought together for the first major show of Japanese Outsider Art in the UK. The artists all attend or are in-patients in "social welfare institutions" across the main island of Honshu. Shown is Nobuji Higa's Naked woman 10, which depicts a woman as strips of meat (feminists take note). The show is organised by Social Welfare Organisation Aiseikai, Tokyo, and the Museum of Psychiatry in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Entry is free.
