Badger Bash Begins

The UK Government's badger cull licence came into force today, with the aim of shooting about 5,000 badgers in west Somerset and west Gloucestershire in futile, unscientific hope of controlling bovine TB. Blame Prime Minister David Cameron for this butchery. He made a pre-election promise to the National Farmers Union (NFU) and is determined to keep his daft pledge, aided and abetted by the Badger Bashing Corporation (BBC) which likes to present farmers as sensible people and anti-cull protesters as soppy animal lovers brought up on Beatrice Potter stories. If the BBC had presented viewers with the facts, this nonsense could have been nipped in the bud. Put simply, badgers are sedentary. Some of them live in sets that date back to the Middle Ages. Farmers unwittingly move infected cattle up and down the country. The cattle infect badgers, then farmers blame the badgers for spreading bovine TB. CLICK for a BBC News report on today's anti-cull protest in London and note the bias. At least the BBC allowed protesters Brian May and Bill Oddie to have their say.
