Jonathan Yeo at NPG

The National Portrait Gallery in London has announced that Jonathan Yeo Portraits will open on 11 September and run until 5 January 2014 in Room 41 and 41a (CLICK). It will feature several new and previously unseen artworks, including this six-foot-high oil-on-canvas portrait of Damien Hirst. The painting shows him wearing a chemical dry suit and holding a mask, the tools of his trade as shark-stuffer extraordinaire. He is depicted as the "dark overlord of the Contemporary Art scene". Is he getting ready to stuff another animal in formaldehyde or has he been pickled in one of his own tanks? That'll be the day. I'd pay to see that. Entry is free. CLICK for a larger graphic.
