Her Bed £2.2m

Believe it or not, some tasteless twit with more money than sense paid £2.2m at Christie's London auction yesterday for Tracey Emin's My Bed (1998), despite the fact that her used condoms must have perished by now. Take a look at the massed ranks of photographers snapping Emin as she proudly poses by her junk prior to the sale and you see the state of "art" today. Editors don't want to show photos of real art. They want controversy and sensationalism. Charles Saatchi reportedly paid £150,000 for Tracey's tripe in 2000, after it was shortlisted for the 1999 Turner Prize.
