Artist and Mannequin

This autumn the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge lifts the lid off the relationships between artists and their mannequins in Silent Partners: Artist and Mannequin from Function to Fetish. This remarkable exhibition brings together life-size mannequins, dolls and over 180 artworks from collections around the world. It charts how the studio lay figure became a fetishist subject and in the 20th Century a work of art in its own right. Shown is José María Sert's Photographic study for The Triumphs of Humanity (1937). CLICK for a BBC News preview.
