Lolita Charlie

Penguin has published Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in its Modern Classics range (for adults) and on Wednesday revealed to a shocked world this cover for its paperback. The infant looks like one of those ghastly American girls whose moms give them inappropriately elaborate hairstyles and makeup to enter them into kiddie beauty contests. Lolita seems over-the-hill in comparison. What on earth has this precocious infant got to do with a boy who gets tickets to a chocolate factory? I guess Penguin is aiming for the paedophile market (CLICK).
