Turner Prize RIP

You may have noticed I ignored the Turner Prize announcement this week. There was nothing worth looking at. Art pundits have savaged the entries for this year, the Turner's 30th (CLICK). It has nothing new to say, if it ever did have anything new to say. It is dead. Even the BBC's Will Gompertz, usually an apologist for the Tate, points out that about 80% of visitors to the show leave comments saying the work is "dreadful", but this year 95% of comments were "vitriolic" (CLICK). So, why waste £25,000 on rubbish masquerading as art?
