Harbin Festival

The 16th Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, northeast China, opened yesterday without its usual fireworks display. The fireworks were abruptly cancelled, due to the loss of 38 lives and at least 40 people injured in the stampede at New Year's Eve celebrations in Shanghai.
