Hayley Okines RIP

Hayley Okines, who suffered from Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, has died at the age of 17. Those who suffer from this rare genetic disorder age at about eight times the normal rate. The original prognosis was that Hayley would not live beyond the age of 13. Cute, engaging and gutsy, she campaigned for greater public awareness of progeria and was featured in the Channel 5 TV series Extraordinary People. She published her autobiography Old Before My Time at the age of 14. She died in her mother's arms (CLICK).
