Imbalance...Bang!

Kiyoshi Yasuda - Balloon...er...thingie (2006)
This is the silliest "art" show I've come across since starting Coxsoft Art Blog: it's called Balance and you'll find it - if you really must - at the Seventeen Gallery in London from 23 to 26 August. It's an "installation" by Kiyoshi Yasuda, who wants to make the world a better place. Really? For a start, stop calling yourself an artist and stop pretending your fatuous nonsense is art. That will make the world a better place. So what's it all about? Balloons. Helium filled balloons with weights and pins. There are also pins in the ceiling. Every so often a balloon out of balance goes bang and the weights crash to the floor! As you enter this potentially heart-stopping environment, Kiyoshi gives you a balloon to release. When it hits the ceiling it bursts and a message for you flutters down. Fortune cookie? Christmas cracker joke? Or the honest message: There's one born every minute? Both as an artist and a first-aider, I warn you: don't visit this show.
