Nude Chess at Sotheby's

Carol Holt v Sir Peter Blake (2007)The art world gets sillier and sillier. Here's nude model Carol Holt and Sir Peter Blake recreating a famous chess match between nude model Eve Babitz and Marcel Duchamp, to promote an auction of "surrealist" art at Sotheby's. Duchamp's chessboard (1946), which he used for his chess match v. nude at the Pasadena Art Museum in 1963, is for sale. Yawn. Not funny, Sir Peter. Note: the BBC has got its dates wrong: the French art lover who cracked Duchamp's loo with a hammer did it last year, not this year. He's been fined 214,000 euro thingies (£147,000). Hey, art lovers! What about a whip-round for him?
