Marrakesh For Sale

Not the town - Who wants that? - but another oil painting by that most successful of amateur artists Sir Winston Churchill: Marrakesh (c.1948) will be up for grabs at Sotheby’s forthcoming sale of 20th Century British Art in London. Provenance for Marrakesh is the bees knees: Churchill gave it to former US President Harry S. Truman in 1951 and it remains in the family. Sotheby’s estimates its value at £300,000 to £500,000.
