Turner Prize Retro

Damien Hirst - Mother and Child Divided (1993)The Tate is really scraping the barrel. Tomorrow Tate Britain opens an exhibition devoted to that national joke which elicits raised eyebrows and patronizing smirks from BBC newsreaders: The Turner Prize: A Retrospective. "Key works" since this nonsense kicked off in 1984 will be shown: 23 years of uninspired, inartistic, novelty dross, from dead animals to garden sheds that turn into boats. And the Tate expects us to pay £11 to see this cringe-worthy "snapshot of British art"! The sooner it gives us Amsterdam's red-light district the better (CLICK).
