GreenPix Lights Up
As the technical aspects of contemporary art become more demanding, architects are muscling in on the world of visual artists. This is GreenPix, a zero-energy media wall designed by Simone Giostra & Partners Architects for the Xicui Entertainment Complex in Beijing. By day it harvests whatever solar energy breaks through the Beijing smog; by night it uses that energy to illuminate a huge LED display which can show digital art. GreenPix is a "photovoltaic system". It's planet-friendly, but how good is the art: Space Invaders or The Rokeby Venus? And will her bum be censored?
