Hirst at Sotheby's
Moneybags Hirst's backlog of 200 items of mass-produced garbage - Beautiful Inside My Head Forever - went on display at Sotheby's in London today. BBC News was there, sucking up to the Great Man for an interview, but The Telegraph's Alastair Sooke gives the show the raspberry (title link). Good for him. It's all the usual stuff: spots, butterflies, dead animals, sharks, a dissected statue. "Soulless and decadent," reckons Alastair. Sounds about right, a fitting verdict on the contemporary art market and its tasteless millionaire punters.
