Google Chrome Tests

Google Chrome ButtonNow that Google has stopped trying to grab the copyright of anything its new browser touches (title link), Chrome is worth considering. A webmaster who is something of an expert on browsers has been putting the beta version of Chrome through its paces and kindly sent me his results. It compares favourably with Opera and Firefox on tests for rendering HTML promoted by the Web Standards Project.

For Acid Test 1 the top score is 100:
Opera 83/100
Chrome 79/100
Firefox 71/100
Internet Explorer 12/100.

Acid Test 2 checks for proper support of web standards:
Opera - Passed
Firefox - Passed
Chrome - Passed
Internet Explorer - Failed.

As for Internet Explorer, you might ask: Why are so many of us still using this bummer? (About 80% of browser users.) It comes bundled with Windows and in its day set the industry standard. Not for much longer....
