Virgin Tate Liverpool
Unveiled at Liverpool's Lime Street Station, one of Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Pendolino trains is named Tate Liverpool to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the opening of Tate Liverpool. I'm not sure this is genuine art news; but, so far as I know, this is the only train ever to be named after an art gallery. It has something to do with Liverpool's being European Capital of Culture (snigger). Complain about the Turner Prize as much as we like, last year's Turner Prize exhibition in Tate Liverpool is estimated to have contributed more than £10 million to the region’s economy. Excuse me while I go and bang my head against the wall!
