Spider-Girl

Have you picked up your copy of The Amazing Spider-Girl, which hit the stands today? It's the latest series from Marvel Comics. I must admit I'm confused. BBC News shows the new super heroine in a fetching silver-on-black outfit (title link), but the pictures I'm finding elsewhere, including the cover of the comic itself, show her costume as red on navy blue, as here. Will the real Amazing Spider-Girl please stand up? The makers claim that she isn't "sexualised", but I must point out that swinging around New York with your legs wide open isn't exactly a ladylike thing to do.

The picture you have up there is of May "Mayday" Parker, the daughter of Spider-Man. She is a cult favorite and was the star of the longest running female superhero comic in Marvel's publishing history. To her fans Mayday is the true Spider-Girl. Last year Marvel ended her series after 13 year to make way for a 'new' Spider-Girl, a character formly known as Arana.
The shake up as you would guess has left fans of Mayday/Spider-Girl upset and frustrated.

Thank you for this information. I wondered why I was finding two different outfits for Spider-girl. The new outfit is rather fetching, so hopefully Mayday fans will grow to love the new look.
