Charlie Chaplin Sale

Collector Morace Park bought a Charlie Chaplin film reel for £3.20 on eBay in 2009. After doing some research and consulting experts, he found he had the only surviving copy of Charlie Chaplin in Zepped, a seven-minute short in which Chaplin brings down a German Zeppelin airship. It may have been made as amusing propaganda for British troops in WW1. The film was classified by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) in 1917. Chaplin was probably still under contract to Mutual when the film was made, but the contract ended in 1917 (CLICK). Charlie Chaplin in Zepped comes up for sale in Bonhams' Entertainment Memorabilia Auction in London on 29 June.
