British Fantasy Art

The shortlist for Best Artist in the British Fantasy Awards has been announced: Ben Baldwin, Daniele Serra, Les Edwards, Paul Mudie and Vincent Chong (title link). The award is for a body of work over the previous year. Above is Les Edwards' cover for Smoke and Mirrors, a collection of screenplays, teleplays, stage plays and comic scripts by 13 masters of horror and fantasy, edited by Richard Chizmar and published by Cemetery Dance. This is Les's favourite for the year, because it "turned out exactly right" (CLICK for a larger graphic on his website; CLICK for his home page). I must admit my favourite of his paintings in 2010 is Dragon's Time (CLICK). The winners will be announced at the end of September.
